Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey are co-founders of Village Voice Media as well as Phoenix New Times in addition to their journalist profession.
They dedicated their money from court settlement after their unlawful arrest ten years ago to organizations supporting migrant rights in Arizona through Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio arrested the two after their expose on grand jury proceedings seeking articles and notes of reporters about the Sheriff.
Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund supports organizations that fight for migrants, civil and human rights and civic participation and freedom of speech in the state of Arizona. They won the case after their argument of fighting for the implementation of the First Amendment was accepted by the court.

Amazon Watch is a San Francisco based human rights organization working in the Amazon basin. They primarily focus on the advancement of the rights of indigenous people in the Amazon basin.
They work hand in hand with environmental organizations in those specific areas. Oil and gas pipeline project and other large scale projects have threatened the lifestyle of indigenous people and hence the organization’s activism seeking to protect infringed rights of the people.
